Missing text - Ubuntu 8.10

Post by robp » Sat Feb 21, 2009 8:11 am

Hi all
I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid).

I ran the personal installer - all OK BUT no message text. All the buttons, checkboxes etc appeared fine. Got Medusa installed by following the installation manual and taking most of the defaults - navigating to my license was "interesting". Anyway, got it installed in some fashion at least, started it - everything works apparently EXCEPT menu items are blank - place holders are there, menu names are there - no text, no error messages. This is wierd, I can do real drafting (including entering text). Looks like a GUI problem - does Medusa use QT4? I saw a QT4 upgrade get installed in Ubuntu a few days ago - maybe we have a version conflict?
Rob.

Any ideas?

Thnaks for the response.

Yes, sounds like a font problem. There is some discussion on Google about QT3-QT4 differences in font handling.

I will continue looking for a fix.
