Re: MEDUSA4 Personal New: Version 5.2.1 with Debian Wheezy 7

This has come up before, and I think it was something to do with the terminal applications available. The Medusa script has a list:
GUESS_XTERMS="xterm rxvt dtterm eterm Eterm kvt konsole aterm"
can you check that you one of those installed?

Re: Looking for Help in german

What I suspect has happened is that what used to be a warning is now being taken as an error. If you are happy about changing system files, and you have not installed any custom fonts in your home directory, is to change the "yes" in lines 13 & 14 of 50-user.conf to "no", and see what happens. Other...

Re: How to upgrade to Medusa4 Personal 5.2.1?

You can delete the old version once you're happy with the new one -- and have transferred any customisations, eg standard sheets. In the personal version there's not much scope for customisation though, so I don't suppose many people try. I see that M4 5.2.1 uses 651Mb of disc space now, when Medusa...

Re: Medusa from the old days?

In the early 90s, I was working for company that bought Pro-E. I was told Pro-E was started by ex-Computervision people. Correct AIUI, see chapter 16 here: http://www.cadhistory.net/toc.htm At that time, CV was still in business and its main customers were in the Auto industries such as GM. Is this...

Re: How to upgrade to Medusa4 Personal 5.2.1?

1. Do I have to uninstall the old version?
No.
2. Do I need to request for a new license?
Yes, I think so, because 5.1.2 will not work with a 5.2.1 licence on my system (Mint 14 64bit), so something must have changed in the licence file. 5.2.1 is fine with a licence file generated today.

Re: Looking for Help in german

Medusa 5.2.1 works fine for me on Mint 14 (64bit). Obviously I have not tried every command but drawing a simple 3D slab with a hole in it models and views perfectly fine.

Maler281 could you give us the error message you get in plaintext please?

Re: Looking for Help in german

The last line in the attachment is not easy to read, but seems to a problem with fonts. While 5.2.1 is downloading I tried a new licence file with 5.1.1 and was given an error message "Error (15) - unable to obtain license", so perhaps 5.1.1 will not work with a new-style licence file. I was going t...

Re: Looking for Help in german

Your written English is already better than my written German (from school 50 years ago!). Have you seen the installation guide in German http://www.download.cad-schroer.info/m4_personal_501_install_de.pdf ? You need to install "csh" or "tcsh", and "IA32 compatability", then it should work. Today I ...

Re: How to select elements by area?

Nothing was running in the background. Nothing at all? That's a very unusual computer you have there. Pretty much every computer made since the 1960s has lots of programs running in the background. Probably more than a hundred background programs on every platform that the latest Medusa runs on. (T...

Re: How to select elements by area?

I dragged a frame round several elements, nothing happened. The elements were just highlighted shortly, then turned to default colour, they can't be selected.
Do you have a clipboard manager/utility running? I've seen these cause trouble before with other complex graphics programs.
