Post by jsuljic » Thu Dec 12, 2013 11:12 am

Dear All,

I am new user of Ubuntu OS (ver.12.10) with minimum experiance with Linux OS. I would like to try Medusa4 Personal. I have already download medusa4 with licence key. I started installation in accordance with recomandation in Medusa 4 Installation guide. I stacked on next stage:

sudo sh medusa4_v5_1_2_linux_personal.sh

Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing MEDUSA4 Personal V5.1.2, Copyright (c) 2002-2012 CAD Schroer GmbH .....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
med/run/csginst: Command not found.

Could you please help me with installation of Medusa4 Personal.

Thanks in advance

You are trying to install MEDUSA on a Ubuntu 64bit, right?
MEDUSA4 Personal 5.1.2 officially does not support any Linux 64bit system.

But it exists a workaround to install it on a Linux 64bit system -with no guarantee to work!!-

1. Run the MEDUSA4 Personal Linux installation.

2. Back up the file login-file in the "MEDUSA4/master_project" directory (e.g. by copying it and renaming it “login.bck“)

3. Open the original login file and enter the following text directly after the line "...java/jre/lib/i386":
## added to access 32bit libraries
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH \
`edpath -a LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/lib32`

4. Create a connection to libbz2.so.1 in the folder "/usr/lib32":
cd /usr/lib32
sudo ln -s /usr/lib32/libbz2.so.1.0.4 libbz2.so.1

Additionally some general notes for installing on Linux:

If you want to install MEDUSA4 Personal in the /opt folder, you need write permissions for the directory.

To start the installation as root do this:
- Open a terminal.
- Type in "sudo su".
- You will be asked for a password, please type in your rootpassword or userpassword.
- Then switch to the directory of the installation file.
- With "./medusa4_v5_0_1_linux_personal.sh" you start the installation.

For the installation you need the "c-shell (csh)", wich must be installed before the installation.
- Type in "sudo apt-get install csh" in a terminal.

If you want to install MEDUSA4 Personal only for your own, and not for several users, you can install it
without administrator rights. It will be said that you have to login as an admin, but you can ignore it.
It should be noticed that you can't install it under "/opt" than. You have to install it in your own user directory.
